I know that Captain Marvel has intrigued readers for many years, and this newer version is certainly creating interest in the comics community. As you know, Captain Marvel has gone through many changes by different artists, ranging from C.C. Beck (the original co-creator), Simon & Kirby, Nick Cardy, Ernie Chan, Kurt Schaffenberger, Tom Mandrake, Don Newton, Rich Buckler and Alan Weiss to newcomers Jeff Smith and Mike Kunkel. Today’s version brings us up to my version of Billy Batson/Captain Marvel. To be continued.......

Hi Byron,
ReplyDeleteI'm curious; why no commissions Shazam?
Check back later…still working out details. Thanks for asking. Meanwhile, check out my website www.byronvaughs.com to learn more about me.

Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment! I thought I recognized you when you first wrote in! Your compliments regarding the cover of Billy Batson #8 made my day. I have followed you and Dadkre1’s comments in the DC Comic boards for some time now. I appreciated all the positive links you post to the boards such as Blake M. Petit’s review of Billy Batson #8 at http://www.comixtreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49988 and more.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to Blake’s reviews because he has been dead on, honest and unbiased.
You are very welcome Bryon. Incidentally, I love your cover to BBMOS 11. I can't wait to see the one to issue 12.
ReplyDeleteWith best regards,
mdtk
Hi Byron,
ReplyDeleteThis is just a check to see if I can post to your site.
With best regards,
mdtk
Hello mdtk,
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time out of your schedule to let me know about the problem posting to the blog. I checked the blog settings for comments and they appear to be solid. Obviously, it is now working, I see your posting. I humbly thank you for trying again. The last thing I want is to have anyone having trouble posting to this blog; I am very open and interested in what everyone has to say.
Sincerely, Byron Vaughns
Hi Byron,
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome and thanks so much for your concern.
All the best,

Byron,

Thanks, glad you like it. Anything in particular you liked about it?
ReplyDeleteHi Byron,
ReplyDeleteI especially enjoyed the face; I feel that you have captured what Captain Marvel should look like with this cover.
In addition, check this out:

Are the Johnny DC titles doing well enough that more titles might be coming down the pike?
DiDio: We’re always looking at the kids line. We have a certain amount of kids books that we’re trying to put out. If there were a new series introduced on Cartoon Network or anywhere featuring our characters, there’s always a chance of new books in that fashion. And right now, we want to make sure that Billy Batson and Tiny Titans have the best chance of success, and we’re keeping the line as it is, at least for the time being."
All the best,
mdtk
Thanks for the headsup, but I had already read it because thanks to you I was able to find that interview with Di Dio..."and we’re keeping the line (Billy Batson and Tiny Titans) as it is, at least for the time being".
ReplyDeleteNow I only have 999 covers to go, ha ha ha.
.....we'll see.
I am glad you liked the Captain Marvel "face", it seems to be more in keeping with the style of writing by Art Baltazar and Franco, not Kunkel. This is what I was trying to achieve with the #12 cover. Again, I thank you.
AWWWWW YEAH MAN!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda digging your stuff too sir!
Franco
Hi there, Franco,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the AWWWWWWSOME COMPLIMENT.
AWWWWW YEAH MAN! I'm kinda digging your stuff too sir!
Franco
If you are complimenting me about artwork from Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam issues released so far, I thank you. If you are complimenting me about cover #12, again, I thank you. I especially enjoyed doing the cover for #12. I am curious though, what was it you liked in particular about the cover?
I also hope you and Art continued success as the writing team of Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam because you two have a nice grasp on how you portray the characters. Your “Shazam” scripts are so different from Tiny Titans. Well, thanks for the comment, what an unexpected surprise hearing from you. This is one of the nice things about having a blog!
Hi Byron and all,
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that BBMOS #9 is to be released next Wednesday, October 28th.
Thanks for the headsup. I had glanced at the change somewhere earlier, but it somehow failed to register in my head to change the date on my site. So, after your reminder, I double checked and looked on the dc universe site: http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=13257 and sure enough, there it was, Billy Batson #9, October 28, 2009 release date instead of October 21, 2009. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Byron. I can't wait to read it next Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
mdtk
Hi Byron,
